Embarking on a new journey into Amateur Radio

I have always been fascinated by wireless communications, most especially radio. My father was a police officer way back and he would bring home one or two handheld radios of various brands which caught my fancy. Usually, it's either a Motorola, a Kenwood, or an Icom. Everytime the handhelds emit audible scratches and squeals, I would always try to listen in, curious as to what the person at the otherside was talking about, what the code words were, what radio was used, and how to actually make the call. Fast forward some decades later, I was already working in the IT industry totally oblivious about radios while deeply immersed amongst computers and software. Then a co-worker took and passed his Technician's license exam. It got me curious, reigniting a long lost spark around radio and wireless communications.

[Fix] Unable to ping or access another WLAN machine from Ubuntu 22.04

Rather than holding a birthday bash for her eighteenth birthday, our eldest daughter asked if she could just have a laptop instead, pleading that she already needed a more capable machine than her years-old desktop computer which she can use to do her schoolwork and creative work for video editing, graphic design, 3D, and animation aside from her usual programming stuff (she does Python since she was eight!). So, a couple of months ago, my wife and I bought our eldest daughter new laptop as an advanced birthday gift for her. With the new laptop (it's an Acer Aspire 7 with an Nvidia RTX 3050 TI by the way), she no longer have a need for her old desktop. Since I also need another machine for other stuff to host my personal projects, I decided to reformat the "old" thing and install a fresh copy of Ubuntu Desktop on it.
